=^..^=
I was never big on ice cream. We often went to have some with the Bjondic family, but I was always like "Yeah.. sure... whatever."
Well, not here! Kiwi ice cream is a massive win and if you've never tried it, you're missing out. As a matter of fact, Kiwis themselves consider their hokey pokey ice cream a part of Kiwiana. They like it as much as their gumboots! Hokey pokey is the Kiwi version of Jezek or Lucka, only a lot better *dodges lightning bolts*.
Falafel. Oh so good. Try getting a good falafel in Ljubljana, I dare you.
Curry. Hated it in Europe, here it is most divine.
Asian food is actual Asian food. It does not all taste the same.
On the downside, you cannot get vegetable cream here. The type you can whisk and put on desserts. Oh no. The real stuff only and it's super heavy, massively greasy and yellow.
Beef! God, the amounts of beef people consume here are just insane. And they're very proud of their beef. The fact of the matter is it is so greasy you can't wash your hands properly after handling it! Tastes appropriately shite, too. Don't really understand how that happens since all the cows wander free on pastures green over here, but there you have it. Ewww!
Oh, and Kiwis seem to be very fond of "light or extra light olive oil". The selection of full-on cold pressed/extra virgin is very limited. WTF... "Light" doesn't look like olive oil, it doesn't smell like it - why bother buying it then? I'm pretty sure the "light" part doesn't mean it's less caloric, it's just way less fragrant. And yellow. And not considerably cheaper. How barbaric. There are other "healthy" oils out there, I see no need to defile pure green and fragrant olive oil.
