I was washing some parsley and I found the teeniest wittle stick insect floating in the water.
The poor thing was in there for over half an hour, seemed dead and broken up, but I fished it out anyway.
It had lost one leg, but as soon as it dried up a bit, it became very lively, crawling around my hand happily, so I decided to take it outside and let it go free in the bush near the garden.
I had no idea stick insects lived out in the wild here (or anywhere else outside biology classrooms for that matter), and my mother-in-law says there will be plenty of really big ones on and around the house during summer. Yay!!!
